Zonta Celebrates International
Women’s Day - March 3
In March 2005, over 200 guests enjoyed an exciting
evening out, helping women at home and worldwide!
The feisty and funny Judy Rebick, our featured speaker for
this event, enlightened, inspired and motivated all. Her tales
from the Canadian women’s movement reminded us to be
proud of our history and to keep working for women’s
rights - there is lots more to do. Click
here for photos from the event.
Rebick is a well-respected Canadian author, political commentator,
and past president of the National Action Committee on the
Status of Women, Canada’s largest women’s group.
She lectures at Ryerson and University of Toronto on social
justice and women’s issues.
Rebick signed copies of her landmark spring release “Ten
Thousand Roses, The Makings of a Feminist Revolution”.
Zonta donated additional copies of this fabulous book to the
secondary school libraries in Mississauga, Brampton and Oakville.
A light meal, extraordinary silent auction, and community
showcase rounded out the evening at Le Dome Banquet
Hall in Oakville. Over $4,000 was raised to support
women and girls through local and international service projects
of the Zonta Clubs of Mississauga and Oakville.
