ZAP - Grand Opening

June 8, 2001 marked the official opening of ZAP. A huge and happy festival was made possible through a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, donations from many corporate sponsors, and countless hours of volunteer time.

Many caregivers, teachers and interested members of the wider community joined over 200 special needs students, of all ages, from Peel Region to explore this extraordinary new playground. The reviews were enthusiastic indeed!

Following a delicious barbeque, all enjoyed a lively show by the Juno award winning children's entertainer Martha Johnson. ZAP was declared "officially open" by renowned journalist Barbara Turnbull, who grew up in Mississauga.
